I have a discomfort in my ears similar to the one that occurs when getting on a plane.
Hello, I want to ask you because yesterday I practiced Scuba diving in Cape Town, South Africa for the first time. As a result of this practice I have a discomfort in my ears. I don't have pain or buzzing but I feel a noise when I yawn or chew food a lot, I want to know if this could be part of an injury, if it could be a serious problem or if it would just go away in a matter of time because although it doesn't hurt it is annoying. Otherwise the experience was fantastic.

ScubaDivingFanClub answers:
Hi Cecilia,
Thank you for visiting our page on diving information. Your question is very interesting and today there are many divers with ear problems or discomfort who try to find a solution and return to diving.
When diving both parts of the ear; internal and external, must always maintain the same pressure. That is why divers should always equalize their ears when descending on dives. Many times when descending divers do not equalize their ears properly. What results in problems or discomfort in the ears at the end of the dive.
In some cases ear discomfort is due to fluid in the inner ear and putting that ear down would result in the removal of water from your ears. Sometimes we recommend sleeping with that ear facing down and in a couple of days the discomfort in the ears will disappear.
Diving companies or schools and also ScubaDivingFanClub do not have the authority to approve your condition; Only a doctor can do it. We advise you to consult your doctor.
We hope this information is helpful to you. Good luck and we hope to see you underwater soon.
Sincerely:
