Hello,I'm certified PADI open water. I have about 25 dives. I don't have a diving buddy. I would like to know where is the best place to go. If it is possible to find partners to dive with. Thank you.

Hi Anne, thank you for your interest in visiting our site and contacting us.
Having a diving buddy is like having a best friend, is a friendship you want to last. But when you have found one, they may have some compatibility issues. In some cases a diver that likes to dive all the time on their holidays, has a diving partner that only likes to dive a little bit. You have to be well-matched or the diving partnership will not work. Diving companion is more important when diving on your own; without a diving operator. |
One of the rules of diving is never dive alone. If you need to explore a local site you always need someone to dive with you (Your buddy).
A diving pal is also good to motivate each other, go to different places, buy equipments, upgrade your certification level or knowledge, etc.
Today there are websites that help you find a diving partner in your area. Some use the same system as finding a love companion, but at the end you never know if the match is right. And don't forget the membership costs. One method to have a good buddy is by making one of your existing friends, love one or family member a diver. You already know their attitude and you can shape them the way you like, just don't become a pushy diver. But the best way to find a diving buddy is the old method of finding friends. Go where they are...I don't mean the bar...I mean the local diving club or school. |
Going to your local diving club you will meet different divers and you may find someone that you match with. It does not have to be one person; it can be a whole group. In case if you plan a dive trip to some place exotic you can invite the group. Some may bailout, but you have better chances than with one person.
I remember someone wrote: "If it hadn't been for a scuba dive club, I might have hung up my fins and tucked away my certification card. Local diving clubs are important for those that lack diving buddies".
Also, all over the world when you go diving it does not matter if you are alone, they will join you up with someone else or much better, the diving guide will be your diving buddy. Just go to the dive shop or school and tell them you want to dive. You may be the only customer and they may take you anyway.
We hope that this information will help you, good luck and hope you will find the perfect diving buddy.
Sincerely:
