Important about Jamaica

Jamaica is a favorite travel vacation destination for vacationers in the Caribbean. From Negril's beautifull beaches to Duns River Falls tours in Ocho Rios to shopping in Montego Bay, Jamaica has all that a tourist could ask plus much more. The third largest island in the Caribbean, and the most populous English speaking island there. The island of Jamaica is home to the Blue Mountains inland, and is surrounded by a narrow coastal plain. Most major towns and cities are located on the coast.

Jamaica has over 100 rivers and lakes and is known as the "Little Jewel in the Caribbean".

Capital: Kingston Language: English. Currency: Jamaican Dollar. Population: Approx. 2.8 million Climate: Mostly temperate with rains from December to May and hurricane warning between June and November.

Where to dive in Jamaica

The Jamaican dive sites most visited is Montego Bay on the north, but Negril, on the west coast, has the reefs in better condition, because is protected from the winds and currents that come from the north.

Diving information for Jamaica

The best time to dive in Jamaica is between June to September, where you will find diving conditions that have clear and calm waters with good visibility. Make sure to avoid the rainy season (October - May) which may not be the best time to dive in the island. And believe it or not, the period (June to September) includes the beginning of the hurricane season. Normally it is possible to dive all year round, you just have to play your luck with mother nature. 

The climate in Jamaica is tropical, with hot and humid weather, although higher inland regions have a more temperate climate. Water Temperatures:Summer: 26-29ºC/78-85ºF.  Winter: 24-26ºC/75-78ºF.
