Important information to know about Mexico

According to the World Tourism Organization, Mexico has one of the largest tourism industries in the world. The peak tourist seasons in Mexico are during December and during July to August. During the week before Easter and during spring break many of the beach resort sites are populeted by vacationing college students from the United States and  Mexicans who typically take their vacations within Mexico.

Best Mexico dive sites

As a big country with waters in the Caribbean and the Pacific, Mexico has many diving attractions. The Sea of Cortez is a famous place for visits of some of the biggest creatures of the oceans (white sharks and whale sharks). The Riviera Maya is a tourist district in the Caribbean coastline of the Yucatán Peninsula and includes top diving places from Islas Mujeres, Cozumel and the several mysterious Cetones (a sinkhole in the Earth's surface with a chain of underground river networks).

Playa del Carmen is in the center of the Riviera Maya. It is a beautiful town with amazing diving opportunities for all levels of divers. From shallow reefs, to deep walls and caves, and just a short ferry ride away from the beauty of Cozumel. The Riviera Maya is also known as the Caves of Mexico County. We have the largest underwater cave in the world. Some of the cave dives are done in a very safe manner and other caves are restricted for diving. Best dive sites in the area: Moc Che Deep, Tortugas, Mama Vina, Cenote Chac Mool, Cenote Dos Ojos, Sabalos, Cenote El Pit List fish commonly seen in the area: Nurse shark, grunts, bull sharks (winter), parrot fish, angel fish, southern stingray, grouper, snapper Best time to dive: Year-round.
