Cayo Largo or Cayo Largo del Sur is an island from the municipality of Isla de la Juventud south of Cuba. The island has a marina, an airport and some hotels for visitors to the island. No one lives on the island, workers come for a period of 20 to 25 days by boat.
One of the biggest attractions are Playa Sirena and Playa Paraiso. Both beaches are of fine white sand and clear and calmer waters than the beaches in front of hotels, that have some waves and visibility is minimal. For this reason all the hotels have transportation during the day that brings visitors to both beaches. Many beaches have areas marked for nudists and the sunsets are magnificent.
Cayo Largo is one of the best places for diving in Cuba. The whole area is protected and the sub aquatic diversity is extraordinary. Almost all dives are performed in the southwestern part of the island. Reef sharks, nurse sharks, lobsters, eels, rays and various other common Caribbean fish are seen almost daily. The depths range from 5M/15F to 45M/148F or deeper. Visibility is good almost all year. The area features several shipwrecks. A short wet suit 3mm is sufficient.

Book as soon as possible the diving center has 5 to 6 hotels and depending the season the seats are limited. They have two big boats with capacity to 12 divers each.

Bad weather, not a problem they have a small barrier reef that protects a nice area to dive, but it is only 6m depth. The marine life is so great that you can see big fish event on the dock. We also had the opportunity to see a whale shark on one of the dives. Some other dive spot are a little far, but they are great too.
